The current rules read:

Wheels and Tires

c. Maximum backspace is 3".

i. Must have 4 equal size D.O.T. street legal 70 series or taller tires, maximum tread width of 7".

Question on c. - Is this correct? It it intended to say that 3", 2.5" and 2" backspace (pushing the tires out from the centerline of the car) is legal and 3.5" or 4" backspace (pulling the tires closer to the center of the car) are illegal? Or maybe I am just thinking about it backwards. Could you clarify?

Question on i. - How and where is the maximum tread width going to be measured? In the past the Hobby's were allowed P235/75R15 as the largest tire. By my rough calculations the section width (width of the tire) would be about 9.2". A P205/75R15 is about an 8" section width. To meet the rule of 7" maximum tire width I am guessing that the tires would need to be about P180/75R15. I am not finding many tires that would meet this rule that will work on my Caprice/Impala. Could you clarify this also? It looks like I am going to have to find tires.

Not that my opinion matters.... but I think it should be any combination of 70 series tires so long as all 4 are 15" or all 4 are 14". The 7" should just mean rim only. Which never was a good rule, every one runs 8" in higher divisions, cheap easy hand-me-downs. Anyway, the rule originated from the Midwest enduro series, so it should be ok to run the 235/75. I would be surprised if a tech guy would read into it any further, this was the intent of the original rule.

The back space should be 3" max, meaning 3.5's or 4's are ok. But My argument about this all along was that it was intended to be a track width rule... but it never had an over all measurment procedure. Which is fine for GM's full size, but a metric car is narrower, and a Ford is wider..... way wider. This one could get messy....

Again just my opinion.

Can someone from the track or an official respond, please? It's getting to be time to prepare the hobby.

I want to make sure that my car will be within the interpretation of this rule.

Letter C is a typo. It should read 3" Minimum Backspace.

Letter I will be amended to read as follows: Must have 4 equal size D.O.T. street legal 70 series or taller tires.

The tire eidth is being removed. You must make sure to read letter N and ensure the tires are P (passanger) rated. The rules page will be updated later tonight.

Thank you
